Manual design interior rear view mirror covers have a large knob on the underneath of the mirror unit. To reduce the risk of being blinded from behind while driving at night the knob is turned toward the right. The mirror cover has a round hole on the underneath to accommodate the knob.

The automatic-dim function of the interior rear view mirror cover is controlled by two photo cells inside the mirror. One cell is in the mirror frame and is visible from the front of the mirror on the mirror surround. The other cell is on the back of the mirror. There is no knob on the underside of the mirror.
